Eventually, this caused the resurrection to work. However, not without some glitches. Giles was brought back as a young boy, with the memory and demeanor of adult Giles. Extremely mystified and shocked at this development, Faith decided with Angel that they would find a way to fix it.
She rekindled her close bond with Giles immediately, only for him to be depressed, confused over what he was meant to do now. Faith tried to comfort him and attempted to remind him that she needed him; however he brushed it off and insisted that Faith nor anyone else really needed him anymore before walking away from her on the rooftop.
After finding the exact whereabouts of Whistler thanks to Giles, Faith and the others prepared to fight for their lives to save the world.
Faith engaged in a fierce battle against Pearl, somehow managing to briefly distract Whistler from spreading the magic enough for his hat to fly off. Nadira arrived on the scene soon after, and took Nash off Angel's hands for her revenge. Faith immediately protested against her involvement in the fight, but Nadira ignored her.
Struggling to remove herself from Pearl's grip, Faith was forced to watch helplessly as Nash seemingly finished off Nadira for good with his laser eye beams, severely burning one side of her face.
Unable to properly respond to what happened, she forced herself to resume her relentless fight with Pearl. After Giles landed a hit on Nash, and caused him to drop the dangerous plague ball, Faith and the others tried to capture it before it could affect anyone below. Ultimately, they were too late and the magic plague dropped on the spectators, consequently transforming them into mutants, much to the group's horror.
Ordered by Angel, after getting in some good hits to Nash, Faith ran to retrieve the ball of pure magic. However, Nash and Pearl oppose and distract her progress. Faith engaged in a vicious battle with the two siblings, who had briefly forgotten about the plague orb in their desire to kill her.
Suddenly, a half-burned Nadira regained brief consciousness and stabbed Nash in the back as vengeance. Recovering from her shock, Faith jumped in and killed Nash for her, managing to get the pure magic ball while she was at it. She then bended over a passed out Nadira, attempting to use the pure magic to heal the slayer.
When Giles and Alasdair regretfully told her it was likely not possible to save her, Faith reluctantly gave up and prepared to give it back to them only for Whistler to take it for the release of the magical plague.
While Angel fought against Whistler, Faith was shocked to see that Nadira was still somehow alive. She attempted to comfort Nadira by telling her that, having killed Nash, she succeeded in avenging her sisters, only to be surprised when Nadira bitterly remarked that it was never worth it to begin with.
She stood by her throughout the most of the battle as well as afterwards, tending to her in a tent with Giles where Nadira was confirmed to be alive, but was turning into something else due to the plague orb.
Faith helped Angel and the others with the mutated citizens briefly before deciding to leave him and London, realizing that were still some parts of her life she needed to sort out on her own. With Giles having returned to the Scooby Gang and Angel still working in London, Faith attempted to find a place for herself by working with Kennedy's new all-Slayer security organization.
However, she began to feel that the job wasn't for her when her first assignment turned out to be to act as bodyguard for Billy Rage , a demon pop star who seduced underage girls; Faith only learned about both after she had accepted the assignment, although Kennedy was unaware of the second.
Although Faith began to feel that this new role wasn't for her, she accepted a new assignment from Kennedy when she learned that she was being asked to find the currently-missing Riley Finn.
A briefing by Major Billings and Reese Zane informed them that Walt Zane and his crew had gone missing during an expedition to find plants in the South American jungle. Samantha Finn was part of the follow-up squad, but when contact was lost with them as well Riley went after his wife and ended up missing, too. Shortly after Faith's unit arrived in the jungle and started the mission they were attacked by a group of new vampires , who killed Nell and Tonia.
As Kennedy had made Faith Tonia's second in command, this meant that Faith had become unit leader. She subsequently assisted Angel in dealing with the resurrected Winifred Burkle , offering Zane Pharmaceuticals' resources in analyzing Fred and helping Angel contain Illyria when she was awakened by their examination.
When Buffy was fated to end up in a hell dimension, forever fighting demons until the end, Faith attempted to volunteer to take her place. Unlike her predecessor Kendra, who was Buffy's polar opposite, Faith was, in essence, a mirror image of Buffy, a representation of what Buffy would have been like had her life circumstances been different; whereas Buffy grew up in a loving home surrounded by caring friends and family, Faith was raised by abusive and neglectful parents and suffered from various issues.
Faith often suggested that killing gave her a drug-like euphoria, and even suffered from addictive withdrawal symptoms when she was not able to inflict pain. Quitting violence was equated with quitting alcohol. She was later responsible for Xander losing his virginity, and slept with Buffy's boyfriend Riley, after switching bodies with Buffy herself. However, Angel was eventually able to help her move past this partially, and she was able to share a friend-level of intimacy and trust with him without introducing a sexual element.
In the last stages of her time on the side of evil, Faith displayed hidden degrees of abandonment and unappreciation. Despite all the cruel acts she had done to the Scooby Gang and others, she originally saw herself as the victim. Everyone ignored her and never acknowledged her like Buffy was, prompting jealousy issues and pent-up anger inside her. Her way of acting out was to either try to kill Buffy's loved ones or take it away from her for herself.
Eventually, Faith grew out of her habit of "stealing" from Buffy and instead tried her absolute utmost to have her acknowledge her as a friend despite their troubled history. Faith often had a prominent wild streak to her and enjoyed partying, drinking, and having sex.
Faith's shown a frequent preference to flirtatiously dance with men at clubs when she wanted to relax and have fun. She was generally carefree and laid-back, causing her to view Buffy as being "wound too tight. Faith often called some people by the first letter of their first name, like "B" for Buffy. At times Faith showed to be somewhat unlettered, not knowing the definitions of "ingest," [2] "remuneration," [5] and "Achilles' heel.
Faith often used the expression "five by five" to mean everything was well. Tara once asked what it even meant, and Willow replied: "See?! That's the thing!
No one knows. Faith frequently proved herself to be impulsive. For example, when she and Xander found Giles unconscious, Faith immediately assumed that Angel was responsible despite Xander's reservations. Nonetheless, she had a deep yearning for a family. This yearning had caused her to be used by so many people so readily because of her desperation for someone to be there for her, something Faith had bitterly mocked over in a fit of distress and pain. Giles had taken note of this during his time with Faith, describing her as showing hostility to those she didn't trust or didn't know but on the one hand, she would display extreme loyalty to those who were close to her and those who cared for her.
In her role as Angel's partner, Faith showed a more cautious and responsible side to herself, recognizing the danger of her old impulsive nature, serving as Angel's sounding board to ensure that he didn't repeat his mistakes as Twilight by taking it upon himself to cross lines that he should have left alone. She developed a more mature aspect than when she was younger, using her knowledge of atonement and the thrill of killing to rehabilitate slayers who needed a purpose in life or in the case of Nadira, stop before going down the path of evil and murder that had almost destroyed her.
Through her maturity, Faith's natural promiscuous tendencies with men began to dull slightly. After drinking together with some guys, Faith realized she didn't sleep with any of them and light-heartedly said she couldn't tell if she maturing or just getting used to being rich.
Soon after, when he mentioned she wasn't as fun as she was before, Faith somewhat sarcastically responded with "Turns out I matured.
However, it was revealed that she still carried a surprising degree of self-loathing over herself and that some part of her believed that she deserved every bad thing that had happened to her still despite her time in prison and efforts to atone. Faith had usually hidden and repressed it with a casual, almost carefree demeanor. After the return of her father and when she had impulsively cut off a man's arm without thinking, Faith suffered a severe lapse in judgment.
Overcome with unworthiness, guilt, and a belief that she would never be anything but a murderer, she in a moment of weakness went to Drusilla to remove her pain. Angel had eventually made her come to her senses and restore her determination to live through the pain, telling her that he admired her strength at coping with her past. Faith was a young woman with dark brown hair and eyes, standing at 5'5 tall. Her hair was either in loose ringlets or flat. Prior to her reformation, Faith's look typically involved namely leather jeans and jackets and tight tops, often in dark clothes.
Her makeup was often dark and had red or maroon lipstick, and she would wear accessories ranging from chain necklaces and chokers to belted bracelets and studded belts. During her coma, her hair grew longer and became noticeably wavy and lighter. After reforming, Faith's appearance changed: she took to wearing more color and her makeup became lighter. Notably, Faith possessed a tattoo on her right arm. Faith was a Slayer, and thus had the usual powers of such, including a healing factor and superhuman strength, speed, durability, and reflexes.
In her earliest days as a Slayer, Faith employed a more brawler-type fighting style than Buffy, who was more prone to Asian martial arts. Faith tended to be more aggressive and reckless, using her Slayer brute strength rather than speed or agility as Buffy did. Due to their identical powers, Buffy and Faith were evenly matched in their various brawls until Buffy narrowly bested her. Over time and as she matured and stabilized, Faith developed a more well-rounded fighting style.
She showed herself to have equal or superior fighting skills to Angelus and defeated him despite being drugged and pulling her punches during her fight with him.
Faith was also able to easily take out Connor. Also while in London mentoring displaced Slayers, Faith was the only one who was able to defeat an enraged Nadira whereas a squad of fully trained Slayers couldn't handle her. Before initially coming to Sunnydale, Faith experienced a number of failed relationships with "losers" who destroyed her confidence in men. Romantic and sexual liaisons aside, Faith's most profound relationships were formed with paternal or maternal figures who she quickly latched onto.
The most obvious example of this was the Mayor, although prior to her alliance with him, Faith fell into similar situations with her watchers.
Over the years, she eventually formed a stable relationship with Buffy's former watcher, Rupert Giles, seeing him as the best father figure she ever had. Faith however somewhat moved past this, still wanting a father figure but no longer willing to allow herself to place her morals and ethics second.
The bond that Faith shared with her fellow Slayer was complex and unique. They had unique insight into each other's personality and the burdens that they shared, but they disagreed about what it meant to be a Slayer.
Buffy was alienated by Faith's enthusiasm for violence and lack of responsibility, and Faith did not understand why Buffy compartmentalized her destiny as if it were a job.
The First Evil later commented that Faith always wanted Buffy to love her. Additionally, Faith was jealous of the life Buffy led, surrounded by friends and family. Buffy, never one for rules herself, was somewhat drawn to Faith's rebellious nature, but was horrified when Faith descended into reckless abandon and accidentally killed a man.
During these dreams Faith gave Buffy a clue to the Mayor's weakness and predicted the appearance of Dawn. After eight months in a coma, Faith set out to wreak her revenge on Buffy for ruining her life "That's the thing about a coma. You wake up all rested and rejuvenated and ready for payback".
In the very last stages of her coma, Faith had nightmares of Buffy coming to kill her again. Faith was outraged that Buffy had started a relationship with Riley when she had tried to kill her to save Angel's life, reducing her "death" as meaningless damage.
She mocked and provoked Buffy on the UC Sunnydale grounds, rejecting her attempts to reach out and help her. After a brief fight, Faith reminded her that she would get payback. When Faith later tied up Joyce. Faith ranted to her how Buffy had forgotten about Joyce and would not come back to help her. She connected this to herself even more strongly, angrily noting how Buffy had forgotten about her and moved on with her life without any need for either of them.
This heavily implied that most of Faith's anger and desire to ruin her life came from feeling abandoned and a lack of appreciation from Buffy herself. Faith's jealousy of Buffy's life culminated when she stole Buffy's body by swapping bodies with Buffy. She enjoyed taking advantage of the perks of having her body, though acted like Buffy poorly in many ways. Faith blew off the responsibilities Buffy so highly valued and mocked her "self-righteous, goody-two-shoes" behavior several times.
She still strongly stuck to her initial views on Buffy's serious and "joyless" demeanor, describing her contemptuously as a "stuck-up tight ass with no sense of fun" to a thoroughly confused Spike. Faith had no qualms at all for taking advantage of Buffy's body to seduce and sleep with her boyfriend for "payback. However, it was brief. Faith furiously punched Buffy almost instantly when they ran into each other to save the people in the church, projecting her self-hate over herself on the body Buffy was in.
After the body swap was reversed, a tired and beaten Faith stole away on a train to Los Angeles. After being taken in and comforted by Angel to come to terms with her guilt and the good still inside her, Faith was shown to be most upset and regretful over what she had done to Buffy. She said that Buffy was the first person who ever really tried to help her and be a friend, yet she had given her nothing in return. Buffy was furious after her "body swap" act and believed Faith incapable of redemption or remorse.
Faith tried to apologize to her, only for Buffy to angrily threaten her. Buffy's animosity towards Faith increased when Angel jumped between them and defended Faith. Faith and Buffy had an angry confrontation on the rooftop in LA. While Buffy continued to lash out at her for taking everyone important away from her and pushing her away every time she tried to help her, Faith argued that Buffy couldn't understand what it was like to be lost, and have nothing but pain and hate in life.
Again, Faith tried desperately to get Buffy to forgive her or at least allow her to make things right, but before getting an answer, the Council attacked. Despite the anger Buffy held towards Faith, when the Council attacked Faith, Buffy willingly fought by her side to protect her and personally took out one of the team.
In the end, Faith turned herself in and went to prison as punishment for her crimes, including murder. Buffy had wanted this from the start, but never expected Faith would do it willingly. When Faith returned to Sunnydale to help fight the First Evil, Buffy again accepted her as an ally although not before punching her.
Faith tried to follow Buffy's lead, and was hesitant to become the leader after a brief mutiny against Buffy. However, Buffy surprised Faith by encouraging her to embrace the leadership role. After Buffy and the gang were reconciled, Buffy and Faith discussed their contentious history, and Faith concluded that the reason they had never gotten along was because two Slayers were never meant to exist at the same time.
With this, Buffy and Faith finally made peace. However, when Buffy was transported to London where Faith had gone undercover in order to defeat a homicidal Slayer, she jumped to the conclusion that Faith had turned evil again and proceeded to attack her with Faith getting the upper hand and nearly killing her in an act of desperation.
Later, Buffy and Faith made peace again when they were forced to get rid of their powers, appearing to finally develop a somewhat strained friendship. After the destruction of the Seed of Wonder , Faith told one of the Slayers she guided that her relationship with Buffy was "complicated. Frustrated, Buffy promptly hung up on her. At the occasion, Buffy received her amicably and invited her to stay, [82] although Faith couldn't help but feeling left out by Giles's choice in staying with Buffy.
Happily surprised by her arrival, Buffy hugged her, to much of Faith's discomfort, and gave her the Scythe, while Faith promised it would be temporary. Soon after, she buys a plane ticket with Joyce's credit card, then goes out to meet the Scooby Gang. An armored truck runs into the police car carrying Buffy and leather-clad operatives of the Watchers Council jump out. They capture Buffy and put her in the back of their truck. Faith attends a meeting at Giles's apartment with Xander , Willow, and Anya , who makes Faith uneasy, as she has no idea who Anya is.
Faith happily tells the gang Faith is on her way to prison, but Giles tells them this is unlikely as the Watcher's Council has sent a team to apprehend the rogue slayer and take her back to England, meaning they are unlikely to see her again. Faith is ecstatic at the news, and she celebrates by dancing concurrently with several men and women at the Bronze until she runs into Spike.
Once she realizes who Spike is, Faith speaks to him seductively and teases him ruthlessly, telling him all the things she could do to his body; when it is obvious that Spike is confused, yet attracted to her, she concludes by telling him that she won't do anything she could do to Spike "because it's wrong.
Faith, however, merely smirks at Spike's threat and walks away from him, and he storms out of the Bronze soon after. Elsewhere, a vampire pack, led by Boone , return to their nest to find Adam waiting for them. Adam talks to them, discussing things that vampires fear and concluding that vampires are a paradox; because they are immortal, they fear death even more than mortals do.
Meanwhile, Buffy awakes to find herself chained in the back of a truck with the Council team. She tries to convince them that her body has been switched with the other Slayer , but they are unfazed: she is merely a package for them to deliver.
At the Bronze, Willow introduces Tara to Faith. When Willow goes to get drinks, Faith makes no effort to maintain Buffy's persona and says several rude, harsh things to Tara. Willow returns and points out a vampire with a girl , which Faith reluctantly leaves to slay.
When the girl thanks Faith for saving her, Faith is stunned by the girl's gratitude. One of the Council members, Smith , enters the truck where Buffy is being held, and she attacks him, threatening to kill him unless she is let go. However, the other members, Collins and Weatherby , tell her that they all settled their affairs before leaving for the mission and are prepared to die if it means accomplishing it. They then tell her to do what she wants and, unable to go through with her threat, Buffy is forced to let Smith go.
At the Bronze, Tara recognizes the fragmented energy coming from Buffy, and knows that "Buffy" is not the real Buffy. She informs Willow, and then Willow and Tara prepare to perform a ritual to locate Buffy's real energy.
Faith visits Riley and seduces him in the guise of Buffy. At first, Faith is overly sexy and provocative; however, she is surprised to find that Riley is not interested in games, and that he wants to make love rather than just have sex.
After they sleep together, Riley tells Faith that he loves her, which confuses and disturbs her own identity yet again. In the morning, she attempts to leave quickly from a sleeping Riley and catch her flight, but ends up having a confrontation with Forrest , who is concerned about Buffy's influence over his friend. Meanwhile, Adam's eloquence with words has completely won over Boone and his gang and they pledge their loyalty to him.
He tells them they will announce his presence, and decides to send them to what they fear the most. When the Council team realizes that they will not be able to get the dangerous Slayer to England, they decide to kill her instead. Buffy, however, is prepared; she uses Collins' gun to break her chains and the lock on the door, and then moves to the driver's seat and leaves with the armored truck.
Meanwhile, Faith, now at the Sunnydale Airport , prepares to leave town by obtaining a boarding pass for a plane. Buffy arrives at Giles' place and struggles to convince him of the truth about the body swap.
She reminds him about his stint as a Fyarl demon and about his sexual relationship with her mother, which sufficiently convinces him of her true identity. Willow and Tara arrive with Tara being introduced to Buffy properly as well as Giles , having created a Katra that will switch Buffy and Faith back the next time they make contact.
The gang enjoys being Seniors now. The Summers girls gloat the school board overruled the principal's refusal to allow Buffy back after make-up tests, but guilty nightmares about having slain her beloved Angel still plague Buffy, who remains too gloomy to accept a charming dance invitation from cute student Scott Hope, but he sweetly persists his charm offensive.
Following a suspected vampire, Buffy finds the presumed victim is the new second slayer, Faith, who considers Giles hunky for a watcher. A limousine arrives in Sunnydale with upper-class vampires: the gravely mutilated Kakistos and his lieutenant, Mr.
When some underlings attack the slayers in Kakistos's name, Giles warns it's Greek for 'the worst' Buffy admits Willow's spell had cured Angel just before she slew him; somehow he reemerges from the hell-dimension her slaying sent him to.
