These add stat points all attributes-random chance but change the look of your character, not so good on male characters imo- tip, look around in Greenwich HQ GWHQ or GW at other players.
You can play the game without using the Cash shop at all if you choose. It provides premium items for more convenience and allows stronger characters to be made but is not essential. In keeping with the sometimes "odd" nature of HG, the Cash Shop screens are a bit strange, roll with top arrows and on some windows scroll down. Keep looking and you should find it! Though if no one pays I wonder how much longer we have- if they are still working on HG2 that may help us keep going.
Engineer and Summoner are probably easiest options for a first timer and Blademaster and Guardian the harder options. Due to problems getting levelling teams in the range I would recommend starting more than one anyway. You also recieve a series of "titles" which are displayed above your character along with your guild name if in one. You select them via options on the "K" screen and you start by default with "Nerd" so you might want to act on that.
They have no particular significance but maybe "True Warrior" would be a good choice for those opting to play without "assistance" see Stat attribute points. More attributes can be purchased from the Cash shop via a necklace and bracelet and costume , these are added on your character screen "I". Reset of attributes can be done via a retrainer includes Engi Drone available in game or Cash shop but is relatively expensive.
If you are under lv20, I would always suggest restarting if you feel your stats or skills are too messed up. Skill points.
Skills can be reset via a retrainer as above also you do get one free at level After reaching level 50 max55 you can start to add Expertise points U screen also has retrainer available as before. An extra 20 skill points can be added, 10 from cash shop, 10 from in game.
Tickets- "I cant enter Waterloo Bridge Passageway". As a hangover from pay to play days there are 2 tickets - Act3 and Tokyo. Right click them both and activate them or you get stuck later-they work for all 6 chars on your account. Cryptex- Delete any you have and dont loot any more. They are stupidly common drop and of no use till you reach end of game anyway. They stack in 50s, one stack of each is plenty, sell any above that.
For new players selling lucky tokens for palladium may well be best option. Palladium- The in game currency, auto collects drops during game but you generally need more than you have just like in RL.
Hellgate can be confusing to find your way around at first- you get used to it. To return to your "instance" you must make a portal using a Personal Recall Device PRD this will remain up if you travel to a different station but will disappear if you reset area. If in a party you can create a portal to another member by clicking the blue button on their image icon, both in area or from station.
If you have a 2min "death penalty" red square in buffs-under minimap running you cannot use or make portals. Found in most stations are Market Place MP terminals, they can be a good source of starter gear at low prices. You can also use search as a way of looking at available options for your level also as a check on prices of gear not always reliable. If you purchase an item you must then click on sell tab and move item to your Zmail where you can then retrieve it.
There are a few very rare unique items you may see eg Dmitriys Glory which have value but its unlikely. Later on you will find that endgame gear prices are falling all the time- its a buyers market! This is due to the mature playerbase and increasing use of "exploit" farming- so dont overpay.
The in game email system, as it implies press Z to access- dont forget to delete old mails as it fills after Note- you can send items but the "box" will only appear while in station! Press enter to use, list of options and emotes are at end of input bar.
English is prefered for open chat although most people dont mind a burst in other tongues, walls of text can cause complaint. To link an item in chat- first open inventory then enter chat, right click and hold, select upper option. Power Messages broadcast across all channels and are a bit pointless now as there is only one general chat channel. We do have a sad troll who plagues chat much of the time and it is best ignored- it does home in on any new players, sends private messages and gifts, offers help and dodgy advice- so be cautious.
You can block players using the B screen, click button on top edge of that screen. Its multiplayer! Enjoy team play as much as possible- create a party if you dont see one, add a simple description eg "British Museum Quest" if your lucky you will get company more Exp and better drops! Game does bug sometimes if joiners come from another channel so add "Ch1 or Ch2" in party name. If you are joining a party get on right channel first, lots of SH parties will put "join at door" with a password so you must ask in chat for entry.
Guilds are a good way to keep in touch with a group of players for teams, help, etc. Nothing for you? Start your own! As a new player, I would suggest playing the questline purple! Do most side quests yellow! You lose experience gain rate rapidly if your level is not close to enemy mob level see wiki-experience and higher level players cannot help you exp run- they can kill bosses that block your questline progress though but under 20 its fairly easy- much harder later.
Main thing is to use exp packs for the maximum effect- eg. StoneHenge leveling involves entering ideally team of 5 , striking to clear 1st room, all leaving fast , reset and repeat. Speed is everything and looting is frowned upon unless stated otherwise- slow players may well get kicked!. If you have levelled to 55 and still want to gain more rank exp then Westminster Catacombs is usual choice to run- the run to Edo Castle in Tokyo is also a good area, Base Defense for exp is another option.
Along with the "you have been playing x hrs" messages these are to discourage over playing!!! You only run through the questline once, you can swop difficulty as much as you like in station only. Do not worry too much about gear in early stages, you outgrow everything quickly, use what you find and cheap stuff from MP.
All drops apart from one item! Auto Analyzers are also available from Cash Shop. The Augmentrex is probably best avoided at first, it costs palla and is more likely to add bad properties augs than good ones- only use when you have 2nd item ready in case it fails. The Nano Forge increases base damage of weapons and adds armour to gear, it has a random success and eats resources.
When you activate a dismantler you must go to bottom of inventory screen and set level or it wont work. Breaking "blues" and below with the free auto dismantlers you recieve from rewards will yield enough resources for most people. Too many in fact but you will need more later on when you start forging higher level gear so save a few stacks- particularly Tech Components which are always first to run low dont get conned into selling those!
They must fit the level criteria for weapon. As with gear, early in game its not worth much input to weapons as you will outgrow quickly. Mods can be removed in the De-Modificator but may get destroyed unless a cash shop safety item is used. See Below For More. Luck is considered by most to be a waste of stat points as it has little effect unless at high levels and this does not effect boss drops wiki for details.
Some will tell you it gives more bonus passageways or higher coin drops etc but this is all anecdotal. They drop later in game but there are usually lots of cheap ones on the MP which you can equip at low level. They fit into slot on character screen I. Set and Mythic level items are bound to character when identified or equiped. They cannot be sold or transfered between characters until you unbind with Sigils. You get 8 free sigils as you level up but after that they are cash shop item.
Lucky box items are bound immediately on opening box. These are very usefull when you fall under the demon onslaught. If you dont use them you get a 2 min penalty red square on buffs this sends you back to last station, cuts exp earned and stops you using or making portals. You can get 2 free per character every 24hrs reset Alternative is to do without or buy more at Cash shop.
Unfortunately there is no Hardcore option- it would be impossible with these servers anyway. The shared stash option has NOT been implemented. Mules are a popular choice if you continue to gather gear, accounts are free and Zmail can be used palla cost though to transfer. And it's not over yet, because HanbitSoft, which acquired the rights to the game a decade ago and redeveloped it as Hellgate London: Resurrection in South Korea, is bringing it back to Steam in November. The description on the Steam page is a little mangled, but the new-old game will apparently be singleplayer the original was also designed primarily for solo play , and will include the Hellgate: Tokyo content that was planned for Hellgate Global , which ultimately never saw the light of day.
Again, it's all kind of confusing. As for the game itself, Hellgate: London is a near-future action-RPG set in a world that's been invaded by demons.
Think Diablo and in fact, original developer Flagship Studios was built around a core of Diablo veterans , except the whole planet is Tristram.
It's got six character classes, each with unique skills, abilities, and customization options, and features randomized dungeons, quests, and items. Hopefully the campaign from the initial release is back too, but the Steam page makes no specific reference to that so we'll have to wait and see.
I can't help but admire the determination to find an audience for Hellgate: London, and I kind of understand it, too. To me, it's always seemed like a game that, with a little more polish and a good break or two, could be a properly successful series. I'm not alone in thinking so: In our " Reinstall " from several years ago we said it "missed some opportunities" but was nonetheless "an engaging experience and a bold attempt to bridge the gulf between genres.
