Does anyone pay impark tickets

The company now runs more than , parking spots across 3, lots in cities throughout Canada and the United States. Companies like Impark, ParkLink and others make money by charging drivers to park on private property, often slapping large invoices on the windshields of any car they deem to have broken their rules. Those invoices look and feel much like the legal tickets that parking enforcement officers leave on cars parked on city streets — with one subtle but important difference: they're not tickets.

Parking tickets from a municipality are enforceable mainly because city hall has the power to put real penalties on you for not paying. For example, drivers looking to renew a licence or a vehicle registration will find they can't do so if they have unpaid parking tickets on their account — never mind what they'll do to your credit history.

CBC's Marketplace listened in while one ParkLink customer called the company to complain about a ticket. Despite having a paid receipt, the company rejected the appeal and warned of dire consequences for not paying. That's just not true, Weingust says. The bill may indeed get sent to a collections agency, but there, too, there's no danger to your credit history for refusing to pay.

No one disputes that companies like ParkLink provide a legitimate service by charging people to park on their lots. Kamloops Kelowna Penticton Vernon. Rob Munro. January 12, - PM. No, you do not have to pay it How are they going to call a collection agency on you? They don't have any of your information, and they have no way to get it as well. The police will not give out that information, nor will the ministry.

In order to affect your credit rating, they need you SIN number. Send them a note and in big letters put STFU on it This is illegal in a private lot? From what I understand, we can park anywhere where there is public metered parking for free, but this doesn't include the Green P or the private lots.

I believe that you can at least get the name of the owner by purchasing a Used Vehicle Information Package? That was exactly what I heard and was thinking..

But this info is a few years old.. Does all of this still apply now?? I remembered passing through an article about this So I don't know if all that info is still reliable till this day in Fall This is illegal in a private lot?

I was refering to my car, or just even generalized, not limited to just bikes. But why would a parking lot company do all that work to get a UVIP What makes you even think that its the owner that was driving? So how would they know who to get??

I have gotten a few of these in the past and just chucked them and never heard about it since. Put the ticket aside and don't worry about it. If in a few weeks you happen to receive a notice in the mail which I don't suspect you will worry about it then. Parking tickets always go against the registered owner of the vehicle.

The Parking Enforcement guys don't sit around and wait for you to return to your car so that they can personally serve you your ticket. Its like the red light camera. They can only make you pay the fine, and not prosecute you for dermit. Because, they can't prove who drove the car.

All they can do is set a fine. Now for this. They cant go aganist your credit cause they dont know who parked or drove the car. All they can do is just make you pay.. How will they prove that the owner of the car got the ticket?? One caveat.. At most university campuses you get a municipal parking ticket, which you do have to pay. It's not related to the type of vehicle. Simply put, private company issued parking tickets are illegal at this point according to MTO.
